What is Oral Finasteride Used For?

Oral Finasteride is primarily used to treat male pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). It works by inhibiting an enzyme called 5-alpha-reductase, which converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is a key factor in hair loss and prostate enlargement. By reducing DHT levels, Finasteride helps slow down hair loss, promote hair regrowth, and reduce the size of the prostate in men with BPH.

How to Use Your Medication
  • Take ONE tablet (1 mg) once a day, at the same time each day.
  • It can be taken with or without food.
  • Do not crush or break the tablet—swallow it whole.
  • Be patient: It may take several months (typically 3 to 6 months) to notice improvements in hair growth or a reduction in hair loss.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it’s almost time for your next dose. Do not take two doses to make up for a missed dose.
Important Information – Tell Your Doctor or Pharmacist If:
  • You are taking any other medications, particularly those for prostate issues, hair loss, or hormonal treatments.
  • You have liver problems, or a history of liver disease.
  • You are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Finasteride should not be handled by women who are or may become pregnant, as it can affect a male fetus.
  • You experience any side effects, particularly if you notice breast enlargement, tenderness, or lumps in the breast, as these may indicate a serious reaction.
Warnings – Do Not Use This Medication If:
  • You are allergic to Finasteride or any of its ingredients.
  • You are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Finasteride can cause birth defects in male fetuses and should never be handled by pregnant women.
  • You have a history of prostate cancer or any other serious prostate issues. Always consult your doctor if you have concerns about prostate health.
Potential Side Effects

Some common side effects include:

  • Decreased libido or sexual dysfunction (e.g., erectile dysfunction, decreased semen volume)
  • Breast tenderness or enlargement
  • Rash
  • Dizziness
  • Headache
    • If you experience any serious side effects, such as swelling in the lips, throat, or face (which could indicate an allergic reaction), chest pain, or lumps in the breast, seek immediate medical attention.
Other Important Information
  • Pregnant women should avoid handling crushed or broken Finasteride tablets, as the drug can be absorbed through the skin and may cause birth defects in male fetuses.
  • Finasteride is generally well-tolerated, but it may take several months of continuous use before visible results are seen.

What is Sildenafil Used For?

Sertraline is a Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI), commonly prescribed for depression, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). It is also used off-label to treat premature ejaculation (PE). Premature ejaculation is when ejaculation occurs sooner than desired during sexual activity, often before or shortly after penetration. Sertraline works by increasing serotonin levels in the brain, which can help improve control over ejaculation and delay its occurrence.

How to Use Your Medication
  • Take Sertraline once daily, at approximately the same time each day.
  • Start with a low dose (typically around 25 mg) and adjust as directed by your healthcare provider.
  • It can be taken with or without food.
  • Take it at least 1-2 hours before sexual activity if you’re using it specifically for PE.
  • Do not stop taking Sertraline suddenly, as this can cause withdrawal symptoms. Always consult your doctor before discontinuing or adjusting your dose.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it’s close to your next dose, skip the missed dose—do not double up.
Important Information – Tell Your Doctor or Pharmacist If:
  • You are taking any other medications, especially for depression, anxiety, or sexual health.
  • You have a history of seizures, liver or kidney disease, or heart conditions.
  • You are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Sertraline may not be ideal during pregnancy or breastfeeding, so discuss this with your healthcare provider.
  • You experience any side effects such as mood changes, increased anxiety, or thoughts of self-harm, especially in the early stages of treatment.
Warnings – Do Not Use This Medication If:
  • You are currently taking or have recently taken MAO inhibitors (e.g., phenelzine, isocarboxazid, selegiline). Combining these with Sertraline can cause serious, life-threatening reactions.
  • You are allergic to Sertraline or any of its ingredients.
  • You have narrow-angle glaucoma or a history of serotonin syndrome (a rare but serious condition caused by too much serotonin in the brain). Seek immediate medical help if you experience agitation, hallucinations, fever, muscle twitching, or a rapid heartbeat.
Potential Side Effects

Common side effects may include:

  • Nausea
  • Drowsiness or fatigue
  • Insomnia or trouble sleeping
  • Dry mouth

  • Sildenafil should be taken only once a day.

Tadalafil is a PDE5 inhibitor used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED), which is the inability to achieve or maintain an erection for sexual activity. It works by relaxing the blood vessels in your penis when you’re sexually excited, allowing blood to flow in and facilitate an erection naturally.

How to Use Your Medication
  • Take ONE tablet daily, ideally at the same time each day.
  • Tadalafil must be taken daily to maintain its effect.
  • If you miss a dose, do not double up—just take your next dose at the usual time.
Important Information – Tell Your Doctor or Pharmacist If:
  • You are taking any blood pressure medication, especially alpha-blockers. Combining these with tadalafil may increase the risk of dizziness or faintness, and you may need to adjust the timing of your doses.
  • You experience any side effects or discomfort. We can help manage these.
Warnings – Do Not Use This Medication If:
  • You are currently taking nitrate medications (including nicorandil). Combining tadalafil with nitrates can cause a severe drop in blood pressure, which may be life-threatening.
  • You are using guanylate cyclase stimulators, such as riociguat.
